Please join us for the opening reception for LIT BITS, featuring new works by Kym Bloom. This show features more pieces from her series on classic video game characters, only these pieces are illuminated. Her work revolves around the simplicity of early video games and how their iconography has stayed with us over the decades.
“I truly believe that limitations inspire great art and that the classic video games from the 80s are a perfect example of this. The limited technology required the creation of characters using square pixels and a limited number of colors. Instead of relying on technology, the creators had to rely on their imagination. These characters ended up being incredibly memorable and they remain a permanent part of our visual lexicon. Who hasn’t looked at a pie with one slice gone and thought of PacMan?”
This show runs through the end of October.
