 Shattered is a collection of artworks and writing about navigating the aftereffects of the artist Tamara Folven Andersen’s husband being left critically injured and paralyzed after a horrific medical malpractice incident. She became his caregiver and patient advocate until his untimely death at age 49. It originally began as a very private and personal coping mechanism to survive. It was a place to let our emotions and thoughts that couldn’t be shared yet. It has evolved into a call for action and awareness as it challenges us to reexamine and change how our society provides patient care.
